‘’
Chelleason Magnums Gold is a 2 year old Pure Arabian
Gelding by Magnum 44 (imp USA) and out of the champion mare WIndella
Golden Wings by Amir El Shaklan(imp UK)
When Mike was searching for a new
show horse, he called his trusted friend Michelle Thomas of Chelleason
Arabians in Queensland.
Michelle has managed Mikes
horses in the past when he lived and showed on the east coast and knew
exactly what he was looking for.
Magnum stepped off the truck
after the long journey and we knew he was something special.
2 weeks after he arrived in WA,
Magnum won Champion Arabian Colt at the 2006 West Australian State
Arabian Championships
and hasn't stopped since.
Magnum remains undefeated in his age class
His other wins include Champion
Colt/Stallion at the 2006 Mandurah All Breeds Show,
Champion Yearling Arabian at
the 2007 Arabian Showcase, Champion Gelding at the 2007 All
Arabian Show,
Supreme Champion Arabian at the
2007 All Stars Show, Supreme Champion Arabian at the 2007 Darling Range
Breed Show and
Champion 2 and 3yo Purebred
Arabian Gelding at the 2007 State Arabian Championships
Magnum is loved by all who know
him and usually has a small entourage at each show.
He is developing into an
amazing ambassador for the Arabian horse and great things are expected of
him in the future.
This is one horse to watch out
for!
Magnum is proudly owned by MIke
Winton and managed by Noran Arabians and is trained by Kylie Wall
Our motto - Go Magnum Go !

WAAHA (INC) – 2007 CHAIRMAN’S
REPORT
Good afternoon to you all,
Firstly I would like to thank you all for
making the time and those of you who have travelled great distances to
attend today. I hope that by
changing the venue we are more comfortable and everyone can see and hear
all the business here as I know I have had problems with that in the past.
2007 – what a year!
We started with some new enthusiastic
committee members who joined some already dedicated committee from previous
years. We are fortunate enough
to have some very experienced people who bring broad knowledge and ideas
including halter, ridden and training expertise. Of course we always want more committee members to make
up for those leaving and it is essential to have a succession plan in place
for some new people to join us.
Our shows would not be the successes they are if it wasn’t for the
many many hours and hard work put in place prior to and during the shows by
a small number of people. Past
committees have put in too much effort for us not to continue their good
work. My sincere personal
thanks go to all those in 2007 who have contributed their time and skill to
ensure our Association continues successfully. Some workers at shows that are often overlooked are the
volunteers and of course family members and friends. Without these people and their
support, our shows would not be as successful - so my gratitude goes to
them all.
Paula Sparre was an amazing Vice-Chairman to
me again, also co-ordinating the Showcase with her experience and skills until
her resignation. This left a
vacancy which fortunately Tami Mepham stepped in and more than ably picked
up and then jointly with Lynne Bunce, managed our fantastic State
Championships in November. A
huge thanks to Jan Lodge for her assistance as Secretary this year. Due to personal matters, Jan
recently resigned from the Committee after doing a terrific job. Belinda Richardson also left after
putting together some amazing newsletters and I appreciate all her hours of
work. These resignations result
in huge voids in the committee leaving a larger workload to those left
behind. Leanne’s hard work has
enabled sponsorship from outside supporters assisting us to provide
excellent prizes and trophies to successful competitors. Leanne has given up many hours of
her time attending every meeting or information session possible to keep us
informed on Equine Influenza.
Melissa’s knowledge and skills keep our ridden classes at an equally
high standard to those events in the Eastern States – especially after her
unparalleled successes at the Nationals. Her control and management of The Saddle Horse of the
Year Show saw some beautifully presented horses competing for stunning
donated garlands and prizes.
All the committee are now able to access the web-site and make
relevant updates and changes but Lynne seems to have a greater flair than
most of us for the fancy parts.
Jackie has continued to attend the AHSA meetings in Sydney. John has begun the programme for
this year’s Night of Stars.
This ‘Equestrian Extravaganza’ still remains a significant fund
raising event each year and due to the mammoth amount of work by Sheila and
the support by her family, with many hours of work and telephone calls and
commitment, we achieved another successful result and money raised. We were extremely lucky to hold
this night as E.I. reportedly broke out the day after! As Treasurer, Sheila manages our
finances in an exceptional manner.
Every General Meeting has her providing accurate and current reports
leaving no questions unanswered and all records kept impeccably. Of course, knowing this and with
her support and knowledge it makes my Chairman position that much easier
and I am really grateful for all her assistance.
Equine Influenza – this had a huge impact on
the equine industry in Australia causing us all to think twice about
attending shows and moving our horses around for training or breeding. We put contingency plans in place
and consequently our State Championships ran smoothly due to some well
organised workers and volunteers on the days carrying out the checks. Most people didn’t object to these
and the paperwork involved, hopefully realising any inconvenience was
essential. Due to the good
number of entries at our Show, I don’t believe E.I. affected too many
people and subsequently most people still attended with their horses. The only ‘advantage’ of E.I. is that we have actually had a reasonable
coverage of our shows and horses in some of the National horse magazines.
We continue to use International Judges,
limited this year due to E.I., but with excellent comments and feedback
about our horses. February
this year sees a Training Day, our All Arab is in the middle of Easter and
a new show for us will be the Arabian Trilogy in May. Due to SEC bookings the Night of
Stars will be in July this year and the State Championships in November
again. I am in the early
planning stages for a mid-year general meeting/function to encourage all
our members to get together if that is what the general consensus would like.
Thank you to everybody who has supported me
in the Chairman’s position for the past two years. It has been extremely enlightening,
mostly enjoyable and some very hard work. I have made mistakes but managed to sort most of
them. This position has enabled
me to meet some of the most wonderful people whom I never would have had
the opportunity before and for that I am truly thankful.
My final comment is that we always need new
committee members. As you
know, without a committee our association can not exist and therefore no
opportunities to show off our horses and highlight the Arabian breed to
others. If you can spare one
evening a month to attend a meeting, assist with the preparation for our
five events and just provide support and knowledge, you are perfect for the
position. Please seriously
consider joining us.
Thank you.
Jill Willoughby
